Colors of the Rainbow Mnemonics

Rainbow over the desert - Colors of the Rainbow Mnemonics
If you are teaching your kids about the weather or the refraction of light, you might want them to know which colors appear in a rainbow and the order in which they appear. For that, I have some colors of the rainbow mnemonics that will help them memorize this order.

The mnemonics come in the form of an acronym and an acrostic. Let your kids pick the one that works best for them.

Colors of the Rainbow Mnemonics

First of all, the colors of the rainbow in order are:

red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet

An acronym for this list is:

ROY G BIV

Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Violet

If you prefer a different method, each letter of this phrase begins with the letter of each color:

Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain

Know any other colors of the rainbow mnemonics? Feel free to share them in the comment section.

Many blessings,
Susan
