5 Wild Western Writing Prompts

5 Wild Western Writing Prompts
Yee-haw!

How would y’all like some western-style writing prompts for your little cowboys and cowgirls?

I happen to have some here for y’all. You’re welcome to share them with your little whippersnappers. They’ll get ’em writin’ tons of words about the wild, wild west in no time. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw smoke comin’ from their pencils while their writin’ these stories.

But that’s enough jaw flappin’ on my part. Let’s get to the writing prompts.

5 Wild West Writing Prompts

  1. You’re a sheriff in an old, western town. One day, something very peculiar happens. Finish this story.
  2. Write a story that takes place in the old west. Use at least 5 of the following words: howdy, y’all, longhorns, ranch, horse, lasso, cactus, corral, wild, flea-bitten
  3. A few miles from where you live is an old western town. The mayor wants to have it torn down. You think it has historical value. Write a letter to him telling why you think the old town should remain standing.
  4. Pretend you’re one of the following animals and describe your everyday life as this animal: rattlesnake, armadillo, jackrabbit, tarantula, coyote, roadrunner, scorpion
  5. Write a story about a day in the life of a cowboy or cowgirl. This can be real or fictional, serious or funny, normal or wild. It’s up to you.
