First Aid Mnemonics

First aid kit - First Aid Mnemonics
Basic first aid is an important skill to have which is why I thought I’d find you some first aid mnemonics to help you and your kids remember important concepts.

You’ll find memory tricks for CPR, injuries, bleeding, stings, and other topics. Most come in the form of acronyms, some of which you may already have heard of but serve as a good review.

Here they are.

First Aid Mnemonics

Basic First Aid

When giving basic first aid, it’s important to know the…

3 P’s

Preserve life.
Prevent deterioration.
Promote recovery.

CPR

When giving CPR, remember…

ABC

Airways
Breathing
Circulation

Injuries

When caring for an injury, keep this in mind.

RICE

Rest
Ice and/or immobilize
Compression
Elevation

To stop bleeding, remember…

PEEP

Position the person.
Expose the wound.
Elevate the injury above the heart.
Pressure to the wound.

Stings

Here’s a little saying that will help you remember how to treat stings.

Use Ammonia for a Bee sting,
and Vinegar for a Wasp sting.

And here’s a little saying to remember THAT saying.

A is followed by B, and V by W.

Share these first aid mnemonics with others. They’re good for everyone to know.

Many blessings,
Susan
