The subject of the book?
All Things Bright and Beautiful
I love that hymn by Cecil Francis Alexander. 🙂
I think it’s a wonderful piece to share with children because it credits God with the creation of our beautiful Earth.
This free copywork book has all of the features that our other Homeschooling with a Touch of Class copywork pages do including:
- 8 different handwriting formats: 4 in traditional manuscript and 4 in traditional cursive,
- Black and white images for coloring,
- Suggestions for using the text,
- A recommended list of classical music for your child to listen to while doing the copywork.
There are two different versions of All Things Bright and Beautiful available for you to download. Feel free to take one or both.
There is:
- the complete version of the text as Cecil Alexander wrote it. This includes seven verses.
- the abridged version of the hymn which is the same as or similar to the versions you find in hymnals today.
The main difference between the two is that the following verse has been removed from the abridged version.
“The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
God made them, high or lowly,
And ordered their estate.”
Some people prefer not to use this verse because opinions about people and their station in life have changed since the 1800’s.
On the other hand, I understand that some people may be interested in the complete version of the hymn. That’s why I have both versions available for download.
