I think that St. Patrick is an inspirational man. From what we know of him, he appeared to love Christ dearly. He had a strong faith in God and trusted completely in His protection when his life was threatened. I think that there is a great deal that we can learn from this noble man.
Let me tell you a little bit more about this famous servant of God and about the hymn of protection he wrote. Then I’ll share some info on the free copywork pages you can get.
1500 years ago, St. Patrick traveled through Ireland as a missionary. He sought to convert pagans to the Christian faith. This upset some of the people in Ireland. A few of them wanted to kill him and his followers. So Patrick prayed and wrote a hymn. He and his followers sang it whenever they felt threatened. On more than one occasion, it kept them safe from harm by men who wanted to ambush them. The hymn came to be known as “St. Patrick’s Breastplate.”
There are multiple versions of “St. Patrick’s Breastplate.” The free copywork pages I created have both the traditional abridged version as well as the full version. There is also a classic, full page, black and white drawing of St. Patrick for your child to color.
UPDATE
St. Patrick’s Breastplate Copywork is new and improved! The cover has gotten a facelift. The text is now in 8 different handwriting formats: 4 in traditional manuscript and 4 in traditional cursive. Some are set up for your child to trace while others are layed out with lines for copying. There is also a new feature. You’ll find a list of recommended classical music pieces for your child to listen to while copying the text. This is to address the needs of auditory learners along with visual ones AND to make doing the copywork more fun.
These improvements are being added to ALL of the Homeschooling with a Touch of Class copywork pages available through Warm Hearts Publishing. Learn more about these copy work books here.
