The 1st Day of Christmas Book – Jotham’s Journey

Jotham's Journey
My 1st day of Christmas book is an adventure that takes place in Israel at the time of Christ.

Jotham’s Journey by Arnold Ytreeide is about a boy that gets separated from his family and must face many perils including kidnappers and thieves on his quest to find his loved ones. Jotham runs into some Biblical characters that I’m sure you’ll recognize along the way, but I won’t tell you who they are. 😉

Jotham’s Journey is a story that is meant to be read every day from the beginning of Advent until Christmas. Each section ends with a cliffhanger that will have your kids begging you to read more. You’ll also find a little devotional each day to prepare you and your children for Christmas.

My children and I loved this story. We could hardly wait for the next day’s read aloud time to find out what would happen to Jotham. Ytreeide is a master at creating suspense.

I also found the daily reflections to be very meaningful. I felt as though we were being led gently down a path of preparation for the birth of Jesus.

Jothams’ Journey is part of an exciting collection that also includes Bartholomew’s Passage, Tabitha’s Travels, and Ishtar’s Odyssey. I highly recommend them.

Just a note: I wouldn’t share this book with younger children because it can be a little frightening at times. I think it would be best for kids ages 5 or 6 and up.

Many blessings,
Susan's siggy
