Homeschoolers are always on the lookout for good educational resources. They seem to have some kind of radar for finding them. It turns on automatically when they are out shopping. I know mine does. When I see a little something that could be used as a teaching tidbit, my eyes light up. It’s really wonderful.
When I can find a little academic treasure for FREE, it’s even better. It makes me do a happy dance.
That’s what I like about the web. It has tons of free homeschool resources. So much so that it can seem overwhelming at times. That’s why I decided to go looking for some really helpful sites for homeschoolers. I scouted out the web by school topic to see what I could find. I was blessed by what I found and decided to share it with you.

- Khan Academy. Very popular site for helping kids learn math.
- Coolmath. Plenty of tutorials and games for learning math.
- Math.com. Includes math tutorials, practice, and quizzes.
- A Plus Math. Worksheets, flashcards, and games for learning math.
- Math Cats. For all of the cool cats who love math.
- Mathematics Blackline Masters. Math resources for grade P – 9.
- Math Game Time. Besides games and worksheets for kids, this site has tutorials for parents about teaching math.
- Ask Dr. Math. A forum for asking math questions.
Language Arts
Phonics
- Starfall. Tons of resources here. Highly recommended.
- Home Education Resources. Has free phonics worksheets.
- Fun Fonix. Has a worksheet maker. Very nice for customization.
- Kidzone. Has printable worksheets and flashcards.
- SoftSchools. Free worksheets and games.
Reading
- Story Online. Stories read aloud.
- Fun 4 the Brain – English. Reading games including sight word practice.

- Spelling City. Very helpful site.
- Big IQ Kids. Offers a free online spelling and vocabulary program.
- Coolmath Games. I know it says math, but they have spelling and reading games too.

- Fun Brain – Grammar. Your kids can play The Grammar Gorillas to identify parts of speech.
- Chomp Chomp. Love the name of this site. Has lots of info on grammar.

- Kids Konnect – History. Has a list of history sites for kids.
