Did you know that your kids and teens can be a great help to you when it comes to blogging?
(I mean besides being a source of inspiration for your blog posts. 😉 )
And did you know that when you have them help you, it also benefits them?
Let me explain.
As you well know, there are many different aspects to running a blog.
There are the:
- writing
- editing
- planning
- social media
- web design
- updating and maintenance
- tech support
- graphics
- finances
- publishing
- emails (both sending and receiving)
- joint ventures
- promotions
That’s a lot of jobs to do, isn’t it?
Well, if you have older kids or teens who are talented in certain areas, they can help you out.
Let me give you some examples of how I’ve used my talented twosome to help me with my work.
One area where my youngest daughter helps me out is in editing some of my posts or products. She is my Humble Pie. My Grammar Ninja. She catches my mistakes and also let’s me know when my wording could improve. This is one of her talents and I let her know that I am blessed by it. (SHE is blessed by it too because she gets to point out Mom’s mistakes. Don’t think she doesn’t like THAT! Lol!)
My youngest also has a good eye for design. I get her input when it comes to making graphics for posts or products.
My right-brained older daughter is fun and creative. I let her read edit some of my posts and products for the sake of content. She let’s me know if it sounds good, if it is funny or interesting, or if it is missing something. (She catches my typos too…another Grammar Ninja!)
My oldest is also good at finding the quickest and most efficient way to get something done so she sometimes helps me make products.
Both my daughters know HTML and CSS, so they help me code occasionally. And we are a big gaming family, so they help me test out the games I make.
Now I don’t make my daughters spend hours and hours a day working for me. They help me out 15 minutes here, or half an hour there, and I try to make it into a learning experience for them as well. For example, I have taught them:
- some of the aspects of blogging and product creation,
- how to offer suggestions and opinions, and accept that, while they will be respected, not ALL of them will be used,
- the importance of reading terms and conditions, (Yep. Actually have to do that when you run a business)
- and how to manage time and money.
I also let them know that their assistance is valued and appreciated.
So you see, letting your kids and teens help you out can be a blessing for THEM as well as you.
