I was looking through some old Google Drive documents recently and I found some gems.
I found three poems called “Faith,” “Hope,” and “Love” that my oldest daughter had written when she was in about 7th or 8th grade.
My mother’s heart beat with pride and joy as I read them.
I am SO blessed to have such a talented daughter. 🙂
By the way, this is my right-brained creative daughter of whom I speak. I think she has the potential to be an author or composer someday because she is so gifted in writing and music. But I’ll let God and her work that out and I’ll just sit in the sidelines and be a cheerleader.
Anyway, I thought I would share these poems here with you. I asked my daughter if it would be alright and she said, “Yes.” So now I will happily share with you her three lovely poems, “Faith,” “Hope,” and “Love.”
Faith
Nicole Claytor
Faith is a large dirty rock you see
Under the sun
You don’t think much of it
It’s just a rock, right?
Wrong.
The wise man built his house upon the rock.
At first you would think that Faith was the least beautiful of the three sisters
But look more closely
Rub off all that dirt and grime that is on top
Did you see that glimmer?
Underneath the ugliness
Is the hardest and most beautiful rock of all
A diamond.
Hope
Nicole Claytor
Do you see it?
That winged glowing thing
Do you see it?
Do you know what it is?
While Love might be a light
And Faith a rock
That is their sister, Hope
The beautiful creature
It is the creature with feathered wings
That perches on the spirit
And sings songs of beauty and majesty
When you feel down
Watch for it, listen for it,
It will hover in front of you,
Glowing like a sun
Mixed with a thousand rainbows
It will sing
And you will be swept up by it’s song
Music like a river,
To carry you away
Joy will come upon you
And peace will fill your heart.
Love
The Precious Gem
Nicole Claytor
Love is the most precious thing someone can have.
Love can be joyful,
Love can be sad.
Love shines brightly, a beacon in this darkened world.
Love is a soft light, a glowing ember, a gentle flame.
Love is hard and durable
Love is as fragile as glass
People would die because of love,
Others live because of love
Love is gentle, love is harsh
Love is strong, never weak
Love is a gem, more beautiful than any other,
Now know this, love is eternal,
Love’s light will shine forever.
I hope these poems blessed you as much as they did me.
